稻農呂南生認為，「這樣下去收割收不到一半，這倒的全部都是了。」
台南市後壁區新嘉里長張夕雲說，「稻子剛好正在結穗，正是有重量的時候，下這種急大雨，根本受不了。」
倒伏的水稻雖然還是能收割，但產量至少得少一半，再加上要是繼續降雨，稻榖恐怕會抽穗發芽，稻農就算搶收，也會被收購單位刁難。
檢視相片稻農張幸淋說，「誰願意青割（提前搶收），青割送去又被砍價錢。」
台南市的水稻，總種植面積約有14000公頃，後壁區就佔了3400公頃左右，其餘包括白河、東山、柳營、六甲和下營、官田、新化等地，都有水稻種植，市府趕緊啟動天然災害救助機制。
南市府農業局農務科長蘇信姿說，「（農民）把資料速報送給農業局，做一個彙整。」
一期稻作先是在3月間，先傳出稻熱病的威脅，後來施藥得宜，減產約在10%左右，沒想到屋漏偏逢連夜雨，收割前又遭逢暴雨攻擊，老天爺不賞臉，看天吃飯的農民，有苦難言。
