屏東檢調人員日前追查麟洛鄉公所涉嫌以不實單據核銷，涉嫌詐取縣府補助款，並在辦理麟洛鄉人行步道等工程時，涉嫌收受賄賂圖利特定廠商，因被收押的現任鄉長蔡志和為李新煌擔任鄉長任內的鄉公所秘書，兩人關係密切，疑共同圖利特定廠商，蔡志和被羈押禁見後，李新煌被裁定五十萬元交保候傳。
屏東縣政府今年八月曾指派李新煌代理長治鄉長，不料才代理四天就遭檢察官傳喚並交保，李新煌因此向縣府請辭。
十三日檢方再傳訊李新煌到案說明，由於李涉嫌重大，檢方訊後向法官聲請羈押禁見獲准。
