內政部民國七十年指定為一級古蹟（現稱國定古蹟），一百年、一○四年文化局陸續發現新的城牆、遺跡，增納國定古蹟範圍，目前正式指定國定古蹟的城牆為九百卅六公尺，本次提報五段殘蹟長度七百卅二公尺，正式公告後國定古蹟城牆長度將達到一千六百六十八公尺， 文化局向文化部爭取再造歷史現場計畫，以「建城亦是見城」為理念，希望重現台灣第一石城的風采。（整理：記者黃佳琳）
