竹崎鄉竹民路27日上午驚傳一起車禍事故！消防局指出，現場為兩輛自小客車發生車禍，車體嚴重變形，一名男性駕駛受困車內，經破壞器材協助脫困後，呈現無呼吸心跳狀態，另一名女駕駛則是左膝胸口疼痛、意識清楚，已將2人送醫救治。至於，確切的車禍原因仍待進一步釐清。

警方指出，27日上午7時44分在166線44.3公里處發生2車對撞的交通事故，鍾姓駕駛人駕駛的自小客車行經166線下坡路段時，疑因天雨路滑，車輛失控打滑至對向車道，撞擊對向車道由劉姓駕駛人所駕駛的自小客車，造成鍾姓駕駛人頭部及胸部受傷，經送醫搶救仍不治死亡，另名劉姓駕駛人則腳部受傷。
警方表示，將加強該路段巡邏與交通違規稽查取締，防制超速行駛，另針對該路段的路面排水系統及斜坡等道路工程，將報請道路主管機關辦理交通工程會勘改善，以防制交通事故發生。
