搶案發生後，中埔警分局組成專案小組積極偵辦，調閱上百支路口及民宅錄影鏡頭，雖加同大海撈針般，但員警鍥而不捨追查，終在今晚7時鎖定嫌犯逃逸位置再逐戶清查，於8時在江姓嫌犯（70年次、中埔鄉深坑村）住處曬衣場發現犯案時所穿著的紅色Polo衫，經江某同意搜索，起出犯罪工具菜刀及尚未花用贓款4萬2000元等證物，全案依強盜罪嫌移送嘉義地檢署偵辦。
