嘉義縣新港鄉145甲線新港鄉南崙村段7日中午發生死亡車禍，一輛白色轎車與藍色貨車對撞，貨車衝入田中，過程中瞬間擠壓另一輛豐田TERCEL，造成TERCEL左半邊車身幾乎被剷平，34歲女駕駛喪命，貨車駕駛與乘客也受傷送醫。

鄉港鄉民代表洪茂睿稍早在臉書po出車禍照片與影片，並留言表示，白色自小客車從巷子直接轉出而且速度很快，「聽說是水利署勘查人員且不只一台，肇事後其他（同事）車輛馬上離開現場，應該請上級長官出面解釋一下，為何勘查車輛需要開的如此快」，不過，他稍後也澄清「是外包商不是水利署人員」。目前事故原因正由警方調查中。
