〔記者陳璟民／嘉義報導〕嘉義縣民雄大士爺文化祭今天（13日）深夜11點尾聲也是高潮，因為大士爺紙糊神尊正由廟方及成千上萬信徒，迎請到火化場火化升天，為人間帶走災厄、祈禱平安。
大士爺廟方延請法師作法，大士爺廟董事長蔡炳坤、縣長張花冠、縣議長張明達、立委陳明文、民雄鄕長何嘉恒與信徒祝禱後，獅陣舞動，鑼鼓齊嗚，炮竹煙火沖天，隊伍從廟口出發，沿新民路西行到位於福權村的火化場，路旁住戶、店家都合什禮拜，既熱鬧又透著宗教莊嚴氣氛。
火化場備妥大堆紙錢，只待大士爺紙糊神尊到場安座，由廟方人員引火火化，照往年時程估計，在14日凌晨1點多完成。
