地震速報！今（3/20）17:22左右，嘉義大埔發生芮氏規模5.2地震，地震深度17.9公里，最大震度嘉義大埔、台南楠西5級，嘉義市4級、高雄桃源4級，雲林草嶺、雲林斗六、台南市、屏東三地門3級，另外，台東縣、南投縣、屏東市、高雄市、彰化市、澎湖縣等2級，南投市、花蓮縣、台中市、苗栗縣、宜蘭縣等1級。

氣象局地震測報中心代理主任陳國昌說，從地震深度及震央判斷，應該是地底下盲斷層或中部地殼破碎帶造成，規模5點多的地震在該區還不算很大，也不算罕見，但因這次地震規模有達到5，未來2周內還是有可能會有餘震發生。
地震發生後，不少中南部網友紛紛表示超有感，「在嘉義中埔，地板一陣震動＋聲音，然後超搖的」、「在1F很有感」、「我以為剛剛頭暈結果是地震」、「嚇死我的毛細孔了 搖好大」、「我還以為我想太多」、「高雄很晃」。
