林務局嘉義林區管理處阿里山工作站主任賴龍輝表示，該名男子是一人獨自上山，被其他遊客發現墜落橋下，通知遊園車人員協助報案，因嘉義林管處近年完成香林橋下野溪整治工程，橋的兩側設有半個人高的護欄，所以男子墜落原因跟身分，正由警方釐清。
