〔記者丁偉杰／嘉市報導〕花蓮昨（6）日深夜發生芮氏規模6.0地震，造成多棟大樓傾斜災情，嘉義市特種搜救隊今（7）日凌晨1點40分召回整裝集結後待命，由於軍機已無提供接駁，上午10點特種搜救隊自主出發前往花蓮救援，將採陸路交通挺進災區。
嘉義市消防局長蘇耀星說，本次共出動4車，特搜及義特人員合計15人，另有1位醫師隨行，由該局專責特種搜救隊副隊長陳建瑋率隊前往支援救災，整備人命救援器材如生命探測器、聲納探測器、頂舉器材組等。
前年2月6日，南台灣發生芮氏規模6.6地震，造成台南市維冠大樓倒塌，災情最為慘重，嘉市特種搜救隊在地震後趕赴現場救援，透過生命探測器及搜救犬等，在倒塌建築物的瓦礫堆中，成功救出5人。
