警方說，12日上午9點多，60歲的張姓司機駕駛公車載著6位乘客行經桃園區的永安路與溫州一路口時，突然昏倒，公車因此撞上對向車道的汽車。還好張姓司機昏倒前，已經踩下煞車準備停等紅燈，公車的車速不快，沒造成更嚴重意外。
挨撞的汽車駕駛與公車上的乘客都嚇壞了，還好路過的機車騎士幫忙打開公車的車門讓乘客脫困，並幫忙報警，警方與消防隊員趕來，先將張姓司機送醫急救，再釐清事故發生的過程、協助汽車駕駛求償。
警方說，醫師診斷，張姓司機是突發性心肌梗塞，經過搶救後，今天生命跡象已恢復穩定。
