桃園大溪區慈湖蔣公靈柩在228當天遭獨派青年潑紅漆，引發各界關注，而國防部後備指揮部也立刻暫停陵寢開放，進行整理復原。面對外界關切慈湖及大溪園區後續開放事宜，後備指揮部3日則透過新聞稿指出，慈湖及大溪園區最快6月底研議開放，其餘兩蔣文化園區均維持開放。
228事件滿71周年，桃園慈湖陵寢卻遭「獨臺新社」成員攜帶紅漆闖入，並朝蔣中正靈柩潑灑，留下大量且明顯的痕跡；這也是蔣中正靈柩自1975年奉厝此地以來，首度遭到破壞。
針對慈湖及大溪園區後續開放事宜，後備指揮部3日則透過新聞稿表達，桃園市政府稱慈湖及大溪園區最快6月底研議開放，其餘兩蔣文化園區包含後慈湖、銅像公園、停車場等，均維持開放。
另外，對於4月5日適逢先總統蔣公逝世43週年紀念，後指部也說，有關特定節日團體謁靈追思，會尊重家屬意見配合辦理。
