士林警方說，林嫌目前無業，由於缺錢花用才會向錢莊借錢，沒想到利滾利積欠的款項越來越大，在被逼急的狀況下，轉而預謀行搶。
犯案時，林頭戴安全帽、口罩、手套，騎著偷來的贓車，棄車後轉搭乘計程車，到中正區的光華商場存款，將行搶得來的現金27萬元以無摺存款方式存入帳戶，警方從監視器畫面了解林行跡，調閱郵局帳戶得知林嫌涉案，循線將他逮捕。
