消防局獲報後立刻派出搜救人員，從烏來拔刀爾山及三峽加九嶺山分頭前往救援，經過2個多小時的搜尋再次接獲戴姓老翁電話，表示已找到路正沿途下山，搜救人員找到戴翁後，將他護送至集結點與家屬會合，結束一場登山驚魂記。
消防局特別呼籲，民眾若遇到山難應立即撥打119或112報案，過度自信恐導致深陷山區，應將控管飲水糧食、並尋找安全處所等待救援。
