警方表示，當時找到彈匣後推測槍身應該也還在摩鐵內，於是封鎖出入口逐一搜索各樓層，在6樓逃生梯間發現吳姓及戴姓男子，兩人推稱在抽煙但卻沒有煙味及煙蒂，因形跡可疑暫時被帶往大廳留置，沒多久警方從馬桶後方找出改造槍枝，又陸續在大廳角落及廁所內各發現1發子彈。
吳男、戴男見無法脫罪坦承持有槍彈，因為看到警方上門意圖藏匿時不慎掉落彈匣，才心虛躲往逃生梯間，但兩人不願交代為何持有槍彈，警方將持續追查上游來源。
