新北市土城警分局頂埔派出所所長林和田19日晚間10時許，與員警曾昭展巡邏經中央路4段時，發現一名36歲王姓男子獨自一人鬼鬼祟祟坐在電線桿旁，由於時間、地點與男子的神情都非常可疑，警決定上前盤查。員警隨後果然在男子的機車置物箱內起出改造手槍1把、子彈15顆，馬上將他帶回偵辦。
警方調查，王男過去就曾有槍砲等犯罪紀錄，他19日晚間帶著槍枝從台北市到土城找朋友聊天，過程發現有巡邏員警經過，馬上心虛地跑到某民宅前的電線桿旁蹲坐著。警見他形跡可疑上前盤查，男子神色慌張又結結巴巴，最後果然被發現藏有具殺傷力的槍枝。
王男向警方供稱，槍枝與子彈都是在網路上購買的，是因為日前與人結怨，才會想帶著槍枝防身。警訊後將他依違反槍砲彈藥刀械管制條例送辦，並將持續追查槍枝上游。
