〔記者蔡政珉／苗栗報導〕苗栗縣竹南鎮大營路一處公寓大樓，今天凌晨因公寓內馬達起火，不停冒煙，甚至一直往上竄，由於地點為公寓建築，嚇得不少住戶撤離，有些人因濃煙過大，跑到於二樓陽台採光罩上等待救援。
苗栗縣政府消防局第二救災救護大隊隨即派出消防車4台、救護車1台，及警義消12人、替代役1人前往搶救，因二樓不斷冒出濃煙，消防人員迅速將消防車停至大樓前方，再利用雙節梯由消防人員接下順利獲救，並逐一檢傷。另一方面搶救人員穿著全身裝備前往火點查看，起火處為一樓之馬達起火，所幸火勢不大，立刻滅火。
多虧消防人員及時趕到，救出在二樓陽台採光罩上等待救援共11名包含3名小孩、1名嬰兒，皆沒有人員受傷。
