船老大為了躲避查緝，直接把中國女子推落海，造成六死兩人傷慘劇，震驚國內外。
預定的搶灘地點，就在苗栗通霄火力發電廠附近，因為這裡有四根彩繪煙囪，就算在晚上也非常顯眼，走私船不會迷航。
四根彩繪煙囪引領著四個機組，1號機彩繪著「歡迎蒞臨通霄」，二號是代表飛牛牧場的乳牛，三號是海豚「阿通伯」，彩繪通霄鎮徽的是6號機組。1、2、3號機組運行三十多年，即將除役。

6號機組預計運轉到2030年，彩繪通霄鎮徽的煙囪，到時候會不會拆除還不確定。
