台鐵高雄的九曲堂站，這個月4日清晨6點05分發生全站號誌故障，導致一列由屏東北上的莒光號差點撞上前方的區間車，還好駕駛緊急煞車，才沒釀成追撞意外。
根據《蘋果日報》報導，這起事故發生在這個月4日清晨6點05分，當時九曲堂站進出站紅綠燈全故障，緊急改用無線電調度，當時一列莒光號從屏東北上即將進站，卻在一個大轉彎時看到前方還有區間車未離站，司機趕緊煞車，2車車距剩下100公尺，沒造成追撞。
該報導也有提到，其他火車駕駛認為，這路段轉彎幅度大，要是駛來的是自強號，後果不堪設想。台鐵表示本起事件，已交由行車保安委員會著手調查，未來是否會有懲處，得等調查結果出爐。
