竹東地區農會表示，竹東鎮種植水稻面積廣達七百五十公頃，是新竹縣的「主力糧倉」，每年秋收時稻浪翻飛的美景讓人印象深刻，去年以此為主題舉辦的稻田嘉年華活動深受民眾歡迎，所以今年規劃十二月九日、十日兩天在員山里公道五路一段與下員山路二五○巷農田再次舉辦，最受親子歡迎的「稻田迷宮」免費開放入場，面積廣達六百坪，讓小朋友們進去後可以盡情追趕跑跳。
農會表示，十二月九日在活動現場安排有焢窯體驗、稻田餐桌等活動，焢窯體驗以十人為一組、每組一千八百元；稻田餐桌以十人為一桌、每桌三千八百元。
