公路總局信義工務段表示，邊坡因落石問題，以及路面土方堆積，通行相當不便，之前就算單線雙向通行，兩端也得加派保全管制進出，為避免落石頻繁影響交通，並加快大面積邊坡修復效率、確保施工安全，才實施整點管制放行10分鐘，時段則為每日上午8時至12時，下午1時至5時。
呼籲往來用路人近期避免行駛該路線，如遇邊坡噴漿工程，也請耐心等待，前往玉山塔塔加則建議改走台18線阿里山公路，確保行程不受工程與交管影響。
台21線新中橫公路望高路段，因邊坡不穩經常落石崩坍，工程單位將整點放行管制2個月，以便修復裸露邊坡。（信義工務段提供）
