〔記者張議晨/宜蘭報導〕「怎麼那麼臭!」宜蘭農民在稻田休耕期間會撒上田菁培養地力,但耕鋤後的田菁,若在水田分解,再經烈日曝曬,常散發陣陣阿摩尼亞刺鼻味,壯圍鄉新南村長葉慶文接獲許多人投訴,抱怨影響生活品質;農糧署建議農民耕鋤時維持土壤濕潤即可,避免田菁泡水分解出刺鼻味。

宜蘭一期稻作在六、七月間收割,下半年休耕期間,農民撒田菁當綠肥,請領每公頃四萬五千元休耕補助,並藉此培養地力。

田菁長至一公尺高度,就動用機具耕鋤,前陣子宜蘭豔陽高照,耕鋤後的田菁在水田發酵,發出濃濃阿摩尼亞味,紅褐色臭水從農田流入溝渠,聞到的人不禁做嘔抱怨。

葉慶文說,村民向他投訴,住家附近沒有養豬場,為何有豬屎味?到田間巡視,才知是田菁惹的禍,被當成綠肥的田菁,成長階段容易引來斜紋夜盜蟲,泡水後曬太陽,則散發出類似阿摩尼亞及豬屎臭味。

葉慶文認為,田菁長到木質化後翻耕,才能滋養土壤,但長得太高太硬,機器無法翻耕,農民多選在一公尺高時耕鋤,此時尚未木質化,對於增加地力沒有幫助。

農糧署解釋,宜蘭農民習慣在耕鋤田菁後引水入田以防長草,近期宜蘭豔陽高照,田菁發酵速度加快,散發刺鼻臭味,耕鋤時只要保持田區濕潤,避免泡水發酵便能減少刺鼻味道。
