受到「瑪娃」颱風外圍環流影響，宜蘭自9月1日起連降豪雨，不僅縣內多處出現積淹水，蘇花公路也因瞬間強降雨，多處山壁出現「飛瀑」，部分路段也傳出坍方、落石，蘇花公路147.1公里處則有35公尺路面，出現路基下陷，
南澳工務段長陳文昌指出，下邊坡坍方須經過評估後才能進行後續工作，目前該路段開放單線雙向通車，提醒用路人注意。至於修復時間，因還在評估受損情況及修復工法，現仍沒有確切時間。
