今（23）日下午14時12分，不少花東地區、中部地區的民眾都明顯感受到天搖地動。據中央氣象局地震測報中心最新資訊，此次地震芮氏規模4.8，震央在花蓮縣府西偏北方6.3公里，即花蓮縣秀林鄉，深度14.3公里。震度方面最大震度為花蓮縣太魯閣的5級、花蓮市4級，台中梨山、宜蘭南澳亦有3級，新北市則是1級。目前尚無災情傳出。
根據中央氣象局地震測報中心最新資訊，在今（5月23日）下午14時12分49秒發生芮氏規模4.8地震，震央在花蓮縣府西偏北方6.3公里，即花蓮縣秀林鄉鄉境，深度14.3公里。
此場地震各地最大震度為花蓮縣太魯閣的5級；花蓮市、南投縣合歡山4級；台中梨山、宜蘭南澳3級；彰化市、雲林縣土庫鎮2級；新北市、桃園市、新竹竹北、台中市則是1級。
為了公眾運輸交通安全，目前台鐵已通知工、電單位，派員巡查崇德=鳳林間路線及電車線設備。
