蘭嶼衛生所是蘭嶼島上唯一的醫療機構， 24小時守護5千多名住民的健康與生命。目前蘭嶼衛生所醫師編制3名，但僅2名醫師在島上提供24小時服務。為使醫療服務不中斷，高醫正式派醫師進駐蘭嶼。侯明鋒院長說，高醫繼2月支援台東大武衛生所醫療後，5月13日派駐更偏遠的蘭嶼看診。第一位前進蘭嶼的蔡政宇醫師，這是他第一次踏上蘭嶼，「居民很友善，也很尊重醫師，讓身在離島的他感到很溫暖」。
