〔記者王錦義／花蓮報導〕今天中午12點30分，來自中國蘇州25人旅行團的遊覽車，
自省道台九線往花蓮方向行進時，於196.9公里處、即新城鄉光復路與民族路口，疑因駕駛為閃避闖紅燈的貨車，不慎撞上「北埔村」入口地標，車上七人跌倒，其中一人上唇有撕裂傷送醫治療，其餘人僅挫傷不願就醫。
新城警分局指出，旅行團從新城鄉光隆博物館出發，準備前往花蓮車站搭乘火車，約在中午時間，在新城鄉光復路、民族路口，為閃避由西往東行駛，疑提前啟動闖紅燈的小貨車，導致遊覽車廖姓司機閃避不及，向右撞上路邊的地標，車上一名景姓婦人的上唇撕裂傷，送醫院縫了6針，雙方酒測值均為零，詳細的肇事原因及責任，還需要進一步釐清。
