台鐵花蓮玉里站10日因408次太魯閣號列車集電弓將站內三股電車線設備扯斷故障，一度爆炸冒濃煙，造成停電意外，也讓旅客受到不小驚嚇，事發後瑞穗到玉里間改柴電機車牽引行駛，經過該區間列車約延誤20分鐘。

台鐵立即啓動應變機制，408次旅客由308次辦理接駁輸運，瑞穗=玉里由柴電機車牽引，維持單線雙向行車。

台鐵公司表示，本次事故統計至12時止，計影響9列次、影響旅客約1900人，其中對號列車延誤超過45分鐘，旅客可於1年之內至各站辦理全額退費，造成旅客行程延誤，臺鐵局深致歉意。
受玉里站站內電車線設備故障影響，223次及273次（皆為普悠瑪自強號）花蓮-樹林間各開放旅客站票。
