屏東市民學路屏榮高中到中正國中一帶人行道種植有35棵的小葉欖仁，由於小葉欖仁的根系較淺造成人行步道變形破損，側溝也被破壞，而且落葉阻塞排水造成積水，市民代表李玉萍認為，容易造成上學的學生及附近的居民行經時受傷，建議市公所應將小葉欖仁移植到其他地方，重植其他樹木。
市公所表示，小葉欖仁的樹根確實破壞了人行步道並影響水溝排水，因此市公所向縣府反映後，雙方共同出資900萬元，先將35棵小葉欖仁移植，再修復及延長人行步道及側溝，以嘉惠學生及居民，至於新種的樹種市公所將舉行地方說明會，聽取民眾的意見種植適合該區域的樹木。
