據了解，葉男所駕駛的休旅車登記在父親的公司名下，擁有3年駕駛經驗的他當時正準備回家。葉男說，有輛機車行駛在他前方的內側車道，他疑似想要超車但因車速過快失控所以打滑，連人帶車往外車道滑還在地面擦出火花，他為避免輾壓打滑騎士所以急煞，沒想到會造成後方追撞，他也覺得自己有夠倒楣。
警方調查，當下本有1名女騎士左腳卡在葉男車下，所幸第一時間將其救出無大礙，另現場車禍所有相關人員均沒有酒駕情形，因晚間祥和路車少，大多車輛車速不會太慢，研判應是車距未保持以及未注意車前狀況導致追撞。
