警方調查，雷某當時是準備到汐止上班，陳婦也是上班途中，雷某經過該路口時，誤以為沒車通過，未待左轉燈亮就搶快，因此釀禍。雙方酒測值皆為零，雷某確有違規事實，訊後依過失致死罪嫌移送法辦。
當時陳婦倒在血泊中，機車卡在車底，消防人員將她送上救護車，經初步診斷，陳婦身軀應有被雷某的廂型車輾過，造成內出血，頭部受到重創，全身多處骨折，陳婦家屬經通知趕抵醫院，痛哭失聲。
警方表示，該路口綠燈分為直行與左轉兩種燈號，不少用路人忽略左轉專用號誌，看到亮起直行的綠燈，且對向來車漸少，就迫不及待左轉，此路口因此成為易肇事路段。
