為拓展紅龍果市場，台中市政府農業局1日輔導外埔區農會外銷2.4公噸紅龍果至加拿大，首批平均外銷價格約每公斤50元。至11月底前並會再陸續依採收量外銷紅龍果至加拿大，期盼讓產銷穩定，帶動台中農產業發展。
農業局表示，這次外銷加拿大價格皆高於共同運銷，除了今天外銷2.4公噸外，即日起至11月底，並將依採收量調控，陸續再以海運及空運出貨至加拿大。
檢視相片農業局表示，台灣紅龍果栽培面積約2,847公頃，平均產量7萬1,000公噸。台中紅龍果栽培面積約122公頃，佔台灣總栽培面積4.2%，產量約2,972公噸，佔台灣總產量4.1%，主要產地為外埔、后里及東勢等區。
由於國內栽培面積及產量逐年增加，為維持價格平穩，農業局輔導紅龍果產區加強疏花、產期調節等，並協助紅龍果青農、產銷班進行產品加工，包含果醬、土司、麵條及醋等；另也輔導外埔區農會舉辦優質紅龍果及農特產品推廣行銷活動，也辦理紅龍果收購加工。
