〔記者陳鳳麗／埔里報導〕南投縣埔里鎮第三市場下午近2時發生火災，火光熊熊，並不斷冒出濃煙，包括埔里、中心碑、魚池、國姓等消防分隊都趕往灌救，據目前獲得的回報，無人受困在市場內，惟目前還在灌救，正確情況還不得而知。
埔里第三市場位在埔里鎮市區，有70個攤位有人承租，下午市場已打烊，有些攤商把鐵門拉下，因此有哪些店內在悶燒還無法完全確定，增加灌救的困難。而因為市場已打烊，加上端午節過後有些攤商休息，初步了解是無人受困，但詳細情況要等稍後才能知道。
