海巡署第八岸巡隊表示，下午4時許守望哨人員發現新月沙灣有民眾溺水，立刻派出線上巡邏人員前往搜救。
岸巡人員表示，現場為2男2女相約到新月沙灣戲水，其中3人已自行上岸，另一名羅姓男子（89年次）失蹤，立即協同新竹縣消防局豐田分隊假日駐點人員全面搜尋。
經岸巡人員與警消全力搜救，於失蹤地點北方約100公尺處尋獲羅男，立刻將他救援上岸，但已OHCA（到院前心肺功能停止），後續由救護車送往新竹台大醫院搶救後仍不治死亡，事故原因待警方調查釐清。
