4日花蓮玉里發生一起酒駕自撞事件，可以看到轎車90度側翻在路中央，車身被燒得焦黑，受損嚴重，幾乎看不出原本的樣子。警消人員到場滅火，發現駕駛在一旁渾身酒氣，情緒還很激動，喊著要救車上其他家人，但救護人員怎麼找都找不到人，最後才發現男子家人都在台東，根本是男子自己喝得太醉。

而為了減少酒駕情況，花蓮玉里分局5月4日和5日加強稽查，除了到KTV和熱炒店進行臨檢，深夜也增加路檢。

沒想到短短2天酒駕件數竟多達10件，最嚴重的居然酒測值高達1.4，好險當場被員警攔下。而其中一件酒測值未達0.25依法扣車，其餘9個全數被依公共危險罪移送法辦。只是2天10酒駕，數量高得嚇人，警方也將持續加強酒駕取締，避免酒駕釀禍的悲劇再次發生。
