嘉義縣東石外海，昨(5)日有遊客搭乘觀光漁船時，親眼看到好幾隻稀有的白海豚，跟著觀光船游來游去，還不時跳出水面，讓遊客驚呼連連，直說幸運，因為白海豚的數量目前不到100隻，非常稀少，吸引遊客趕快拿手機搶拍。

引起遊客歡呼的可不是一般的海豚，而是稀有少見的白海豚，白海豚還越游越靠近觀光漁船，來個近距離跳出水面，讓遊客好驚喜，與白海豚美好的相遇發生在5日上午，觀光漁船載遊客到外傘頂洲，行經東石外海約4浬處時，發現多隻白海豚蹤影，當地船長表示今年已經看到好幾次。

去年11月海巡隊也曾在布袋外海0.8浬處，遇到6隻白海豚家族主動慢慢靠近海巡艇，還跳出海面嬉戲，根據科學研究估算，目前台灣白海豚不到100隻，2008年世界自然保育聯盟IUCN將台灣白海豚列入極危物種，是僅次於野外滅絕的等級，急需採取保護措施，海巡署執行白海豚復育專案，也希望所有漁民和遊客珍惜白海豚。
