警方調查，呂女分別在上月29日中午12時許及晚間10時許，前往新北市樹林博愛街夜市商圈的3間服飾、精品店，竊取咖啡色側背包、黑色韓系包包、黑色襯衫等物，店家事後清點商品時，發現短少後調閱監視器發現遭小偷，憤而前往轄區派出所報案，並在臉書地方社團《我是樹林人》貼文呼籲網友小心。

轄區樹林派出所獲報後，過濾監視器後發現3起竊案均為同一人所為，循線通知涉案的呂女到案時，她對於犯行均坦承不諱，並向警方供稱，有時會控制不了自己，看到想要的東西就會想偷，才會下手行竊，訊後也被依竊盜罪嫌函送法辦。
