劉櫂豪表示，鹿野鄉和平部落的中興崗哨因為視野角度好，近年來成為鐵道迷的熱門秘境之一，除了環境幽美、視野良好，做好規劃設施，必能成為具有多功能的觀光景點，帶動當地發展。
鹿野鄉公所希望將崗哨現有建物改善為市集空間及自行車服務站，除提供部落擺攤空間外，更提供廁所、眺景、賣店、自行車服務等服務，活化舊空間重新再利用，並將周邊腹地景觀綠美化，增加遊憩空間。
花東縱谷國家風景區管理處處長林維玲在日前會勘時，允諾將配合辦理，儘速發包動工。
