林內鄉長張維崢表示，龍過脈步道是雲林使用率前三高的步道，每天都有不少民眾至此登山、健行，六月三日水災發生後，道路損毀嚴重，林務局建議改道，公所接受，但野溪如不整治，被沖毀的土堤恐繼續流失，新路也會岌岌可危。
縣府水利處長許宏博建議，路基崩落的步道確實應該改道，但原有護岸也應做保護才可避免水土繼續流失，野溪整治則建議施做固床。
林務局南投林管處秘書王怡靖表示，損壞的道路屬於「產業道路」，林務局不負責維修；至於野溪治理林務局會內部檢討。
初步估算，步道災後復建經費約三百廿萬元，縣府將報公共工程委員會爭取經費，另步道功能提升經費兩百十四萬元，將由縣府自籌。
