台鐵一輛由花蓮開往台東的350次自強號17日上路後，晚間7點26分在三民=玉里間（K81+800）撞到一名闖越鐵軌的路人。警消獲報後已到場處理，但由於該區間為單線路段，目前路段不通搶救中，總計影響4列次班車、近千名乘客。
鐵路警察局花蓮分局17日晚間7點35分接獲報案，指玉里鎮新昌街平交道發生撞擊事故。警方趕抵現場時，發現一名年約60歲的男子仰臥鐵道旁，但到院前已無呼吸心跳。
台鐵指出，有4列次班車因為該事故延誤，影響乘客近千名；至於事故原因及死者身分，警方還要進一步釐清。
