〔記者蔡宗憲／屏東報導〕恆春半島從八月底受西南氣流影響豪雨不斷，部分地區出現嚴重土石泥流，昔日海底美麗珊瑚生態也遭流入的大量泥沙覆蓋，如今「山竹」颱風可能來襲，潛水教練蔡永春下海觀察後大嘆：「這裡潛水那麼多年，從來沒看到水質這麼差、能見度這麼慘、水底泥沙積這麼多！」
墾管處初步調查，認為是雨勢過大導致大量泥流入海，有待大自然力量淘洗復原，相信又能美麗如昔。待風浪穩定後將進行水下調查，並持續監控周邊陸域水土保持問題。
