8日下午2點50分，花蓮縣秀林鄉發生規模4.2地震，宜蘭縣南澳地區最大震度4級。地震發生後，宜蘭消防局表示，轄內目前尚無接獲地震災情。另外，公路總局第四區養護工程處，立即派員巡查轄管省道如蘇花公路等路況，初步巡查道路、橋梁、隧道無災情，交通亦維持正常通行中。
花蓮縣秀林鄉發生規模4.2地震，宜蘭縣南澳地區最大震度4級，「有一點搖晃！」南澳鄉公所緊急了解，有鄉民回報：「還好！」鄉公所表示，未接獲災情通報，但會持續了解。
公路總局第四區養護工程處表示，規模4.2地震發生，立即派員巡查轄管省道路況，經初步巡查道路、橋梁、隧道無災情，交通亦維持正常通行中。
不過也呼籲用路民眾，地震過後山區土石鬆動，易發生坍方落石，宜避免行駛山區道路；另應特別注意路況資訊，並多運用公路總局省道即時路況系統(http://168.thb.gov.tw)及收聽警廣即時路況。以維行車平安。
