〔記者羅欣貞／屏東報導〕屏東縣政府今天（31日）指出，台鐵高雄鐵路地下化10月14日通車，新左營至屏東間新增7座通勤式車站，原來從新左營搭區間車到屏東的通勤時間約40分鐘，預估未來可能拉長至56分鐘，通勤民眾憂心通勤時間愈拉愈長；縣府因此籲請台鐵局研議增加區間快車。
針對民眾疑慮，屏縣府城鄉處表示，已函請交通部台灣鐵路管理局，考量新左營往返屏東民眾交通權益，針對未來通勤新左營至屏東時間變長一事，研擬對策並適時檢討，以解決民眾疑慮。
屏東縣政府指出，台鐵捷運化增加民眾往返高雄內惟、美術館、鼓山、三塊厝、民族、科工館、正義等站便利性，但相對造成往返於端點民眾旅運時間加長。縣府已請台灣鐵路管理局在兼顧新設場站便利性，並考量平日通勤、端點旅運等方面，盡可能減少縮短行車時間，避免影響民眾權益。
