花蓮縣吉安鄉明義二街與永昌路口6日上午9時許，發生2汽車擦撞車禍事故，一輛黑車廂型車從永昌路東往西方向行駛，至交叉路口時，和一輛行駛在明義二街北往南方向的紅色汽車發生碰撞，導致黑色廂型車被撞翻，紅色汽車則是失控駛入草叢內，導致紅色轎車內1名女駕駛受到輕傷送醫。
吉安警分局太昌所所長和員警抵達處理，並在現場指揮交通。所長張進首表示，發生事故的路段是花蓮吉安鄉明義二街、永昌街口，是一處狹小的鄉間道路，現場沒有號誌燈，紅色轎車從明義二街北向南行駛，由溫姓男子駕駛的箱型車從永昌街東往西行駛，兩車在路口相撞。
張進首表示，吉安路一段有施工路段，只能單線雙向行駛，因此車輛改走鄉間小路，提醒一定要放慢車速，互相禮讓，才不會造成意外。
吉安警分局表示，初步調查2車駕駛都未喝酒，是否因車速過快導致車禍意外，仍需調閱監視器及2車行車紀錄器才能進一步釐清。
