位在水林鄉與口湖鄉交界的牛挑灣溪瑞穗橋河道，因堆積不少淤泥，養份豐富，今天長出一片紅樹林，泥地裡出現不少招潮蟹、彈突魚等，偶有蒼鷺等野鳥前來覓食，漸形成沿海一處生態區，現值紅樹林結子期，樹上結滿大量種子，落下後隨潮水漂流，將出現一片綠油油的水生植物景觀。
但民眾發現這陣子牛挑灣溪海水退潮時，水面漂浮大量垃圾，紅樹林生長的縫隙間則是堆滿保麗龍飲料杯，不僅有礙觀瞻，也容易影響環境生態，相關單位應儘快清除。
