這起意外發生在下午2點多，當時是下課時間，洪生和另名同學嬉戲奔跑，跑在前方的洪生疑被樹根絆倒，整個人正面倒地，撞擊地面，竟一動也不動，停止呼吸、心跳，嚇壞同伴，趕緊通報校護。
校方立即通報119，並對洪生緊急進行AED和CPR急救，消防救護人員到場接手搶救，送醫後恢復生命跡象，但血壓不穩定，需靠呼吸器呼吸，目前仍在加護病房搶救中。
