警方表示，類似烏龍報案的狀況經常發生，通常先查詢拖吊系統，確認沒有被拖吊，再擴大範圍搜尋，同時也將當事人送到派出所製作筆錄，所幸都能在完成通報失竊程序前找到。
警方指出，左營分局博愛四路派出所巡佐朱永吉及警員劉哲源，於本月18日下午獲報，指王男停在民族一路1038號前停車格內的汽車失竊，員警了解後，請同事開車到現場，載王男到派出所製作筆錄，然後兵分兩路擴大搜尋。
大約15分鐘後，員警在榮總路與榮總路243巷口的停車格，發現王男的座車，緊急通知同事將王男載到現場確認。王男對自己記錯停車位置，感到不好意思，也謝謝員警的幫忙。
