36歲陳姓工人是名慣竊，8月1日在新北市泰山區新北大道上拆路邊機車的車牌，再將車牌掛上自己的機車使用，警方獲報後沿線追查，15日晚間趁陳嫌牽車時逮人，遭捕後竟聲稱，「因為自己的車牌遭查扣，才會借用別人的」，態度顯得毫無悔意，警訊後依竊盜罪將他移送法辦。
警方調查，陳嫌有多項竊盜及傷害前科，疑似想做案並規避警方查緝，隨機偷取車牌；陳嫌在8月1日晚間騎機車行經泰山新北大道時，見路邊停放機車，拿出板手將車牌取下後逃逸，隔天車主發現車牌不見，氣得報案。
警方調閱上百支監視器，依失竊的車牌追查，經日多日追查，15日晚間警方在泰山楓江路埋伏，趁陳前往牽車時當場將他上銬逮捕。陳嫌供稱，因為自己原本的車牌遭查扣，才會借用別人的，訊後依竊盜罪將他移送法辦。
