消防局表示，消防局獲報自小客車自撞安全島並有起火情況，立即派遣屏東分隊救護車及水箱車，出動2車5人由小隊長陳坤耀帶隊前往灌救，6時15分即將火勢撲滅，6時33分將24歲肢體疼痛受傷的男姓駕駛人送往醫院救治，無生命危險。
全案警方將進行酒測值檢測，並對駕駛人製作筆錄以查明真正的肇事原因。
