根據《蘋果日報》報導，同行學生指出，梁姓學生原本騎在同行機車中的第二台，他加速超越同學機車成為帶頭車後，一過彎就發生意外，在彎道摔車並撞上電桿，隨後人車整個摔進田中。
意外發生後，同學趕緊停車查看梁姓學生傷勢，並叫救護車，不過梁姓學生在車禍發生後頭骨破裂，已當場死亡，安全帽則掉落在他身旁水田中，案發當時是否有戴好安全帽仍待釐清，詳細肇事原因也有待進一步調查。
