今年6月，一名精神不穩定的男子在旗山醫院前道路情緒失控，行徑恐傷及路人，建國派出所警員古豐豪腰帶遭對方扯斷，所幸冷靜應變，成功將人制伏送往醫院，英勇過程被民眾PO上網路；另起殺人案也是發生在6月份，林姓兇嫌酒後持刀刺傷友人逃逸，偵查隊人員在案發1小時內逮捕嫌犯，迅速破案。
市警局長陳家欽今天下午親臨旗山分局表揚有功人員，頒發茶葉（簡稱為破案茶）獎勵旗山警分局偵查隊、建國派出所、杉林派出所與美濃派出所等單位。除上述兩案外，另3起案件是查獲毒品案，一起性交易案件，以及一起偵查隊破獲1支長槍的案件。
